Solar can sound complicated or too good to be true. The right response is a clear explanation of the variables, obligations, and next steps.

Frequently asked questions

Start here

How much does solar cost?

It depends on your home, usage, equipment, utility, available programs, and whether you choose a purchase, financing, lease, or power-purchase structure. Sunvantage will explain the proposal and ongoing obligations before you decide.

Is solar really free?

No universal offer makes solar simply free. Some qualified homeowners may have a structure with no upfront payment, but future payments, contract terms, and eligibility requirements may still apply.

What does $0 out of pocket mean?

It usually refers to no upfront payment under an eligible program or contract structure. It does not automatically mean there are no future payments or obligations.

What happens if I move?

Options depend on the agreement and the buyer. A proposal review should include transfer, payoff, and home-sale terms before you sign.

Does solar increase home value?

It may affect buyer interest or value, but results vary and depend on ownership and contract details. Sunvantage does not promise a specific increase.

What if my roof is old?

Roof condition is reviewed before final design. If work is needed, Sunvantage can explain available coordination options and whether any eligible structure may cover related costs.

What if I need a new roof later?

Ask how panel removal and reinstallation would be handled. The answer depends on your agreement, provider policies, and the work required.

What if it snows?

Panels can still produce in winter, but snow cover and shorter days can reduce output. Annual production estimates should account for local conditions.

What happens if the power goes out?

Grid-connected solar normally shuts down for safety during an outage. A properly designed battery backup system can power selected loads, within its capacity and charge limits.

How does battery backup work?

A battery stores energy for later use. Backup time depends on what you power, the battery’s charge and capacity, solar conditions, and system configuration.

How long does installation take?

Timing varies with design, permits, utility approvals, equipment, inspections, and property needs. Sunvantage can explain the current sequence for your area without promising a date too early.

Why do you need my electric bill?

It helps confirm your utility and usage pattern so a preliminary conversation is based on your home rather than a generic estimate.

What happens after I submit the form?

You receive an immediate confirmation. The Sunvantage team will review your information and follow up within 24 hours to ask questions and explain possible next steps. Submission alone does not mean you qualify.

Do you serve my area?

Sunvantage currently focuses on homeowners in New York and New Jersey. Additional states will be listed only after availability is verified.
